DILI, 04 December 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government, through the Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, approved the proposal to authorize a financial contribution to the Timor-Leste Unit in the ASEAN Secretariat in the amount of US$400,000.
The proposal was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, and the Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs, Milena Rangel, at the Council of Ministers meeting led by the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão.
This contribution aims to support the operation of the aforementioned Unit and ensure the continuity of essential activities for monitoring Timor-Leste’s integration process into ASEAN after the country’s full accession, formalized on October 26, 2025.
Minister Bendito Freitas stated that ASEAN member countries contribute a total of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars annually to the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta to finance the organization’s operational activities.
