Three Timorese boxers compete at the SEA Games 2025

DILI, 10 December 2025 (TATOLI) – Three Timorese boxing athletes, Domingas de Araújo, Grigório de Jesus, and Alexandro Meliano, will compete in their first matches at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand.

According to the official schedule, in the women’s division, Domingas de Araújo Barros will face Thai boxer Thipsatcha Todwaree in the 49-kilogram category, with the bout taking place at the Chulalongkorn University Sports Center in Bangkok.

In the men’s division, Grigório de Jesus will go up against Vietnamese boxer Duong Nguyen Van in the 57-kilogram category, also at the Chulalongkorn University Sports Center.

Both Domingas de Araújo and Grigório de Jesus will compete in the round of 16. Victories in these matches would advance them to the quarterfinals, scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Meliano da Costa Freitas, competing in the 69-kilogram category, has automatically advanced to the round of 16 due to the results of the draw, which placed him in a bye slot.

In total, Timor-Leste is represented by nine boxing athletes at the SEA Games 2025: Jeremias Mendonça Amaral, Alexandro Meliano da Costa Freitas, Alexandro Jacob, António da Silva, Elísio Gaio, Grigório de Jesus, Domingos Barros, Titánia Quintas, and Francisco Lobo.
