DILI, 23 january 2026 (TATOLI) – ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on thursday received a farewell call from Timor-Leste’s outgoing Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Natércia Cipriano Coelho da Silva, at the ASEAN Headquarters.
The meeting took place at the ASEAN Secretariat as Ambassador Natércia concluded her diplomatic assignment.
Kao commended Ambassador Natércia for her invaluable contributions to the work of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR).
He praised her strong leadership in advancing Timor-Leste’s full integration into ASEAN.
Timor-Leste was admitted as the eleventh Member State of ASEAN at the 47th ASEAN Summit on 26 october 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Kao also extended his best wishes for Ambassador Natércia’s future endeavours and reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s continued support for her successor and the Permanent Mission of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste to ASEAN.
Ambassador Silva presented her Letter of Credence to Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on 29 october 2025.
