DILI, 27 january 2026 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers has approved the appointment of Rosário da Graça Maia, as the new president of the Board of Directors of Rádio e Televisão de Timor-Leste (RTTL, EP), with effect from february 1, 2026.
The resolution, presented by Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Agio Pereira and Secretary of State for Media Expedito Dias Ximenes, also officially dismissed the current president from his position.
Maia’s appointment is based on his recognized impartiality, integrity, technical and managerial skills, as well as his professional experience and seniority.
Rosário da Graça Maia, 49, from Ermera municipality will serve a four-year term leading Timor-Leste’s state-owned public broadcasting company.
Maia began his journalism career in 1991, working for the Loriku Lian bulletin of the National Resistance of East Timorese Students (RENETIL).
In 2001, he joined Radio UNTAET, which later became Radio Timor-Leste.
From 2002 to 2012, he worked for Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, holding several senior roles, including Head of the Municipal News Section, Head of the Radio Programming Department, Director of Community Education and Radio Programming, and Director of Radio and TV Programming.
Between 2013 and 2014, Maia served as Media Adviser to the Secretary of State for Social Communication. He also worked as a Media Specialist for the U.S. Embassy in Dili.
