DILI, 28 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The Dili Municipal Health Service (SSMD) has recorded 386 new dengue cases and two deaths over the past seven days, according to Acting Director Abílio Inácio.

The latest figures bring the total number of reported dengue cases in january to 609.

According to Inácio, the Comoro Health Centre has reported the highest number of cases, with 316 infections.

Meanwhile, the Becora Health Centre follows with 199 cases, while Vera Cruz reported 62 cases and Formosa registered 32.

The sharp rise in infections has led to overcrowding at several health facilities.

Inácio said that the Comoro Health Centre has had to transfer some patients to the Formosa Health Centre due to capacity constraints.

Dengue cases are classified into three clinical categories: mild, moderate and severe, the acting director explained.

Patients classified as moderate and severe cases are being referred to the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV) for further treatment.

Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as cases increase across the municipality.
