DILI, 03 february 2026 (TATOLI) – President José Ramos-Horta arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport at approximately 12:45 midnight on february 3, 2026 to begin a high-level working visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Upon his arrival, the Nobel Peace Laureate and his delegation were formally received by the Timor-Leste Ambassador to Abu Dhabi.
Ramos-Horta’s visit focuses on his participation in the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, an event of deep significance for Timor-Leste, which in 2022 became the first nation to formally adopt the Document on Human Fraternity into its national values.
During his three-day mission, President Ramos-Horta is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Human Fraternity Majlis and engage with future diplomats at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
The visit will be highlighted by a courtesy call to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and attendance at the prestigious award ceremony at the Founder’s Memorial.
Before departing on february 5, the President will also participate in the World Governments Summit in Dubai, further strengthening bilateral ties and reinforcing Timor-Leste’s commitment to international peace and humanitarian dialogue.
