DILI, 10 february 2026 (TAOLI) – Today, a signing ceremony for grant contracts for The Project for the Construction of Health Post in Nuno-mogue Village, Hatu-Builico Administrative Post, Ainaro Municipality and The Project for the Construction of EBF Berao School Building in Makadade Village, Atauro Administrative Authority was held at the Embassy of Japan in Timor-Leste. The assistance is provided through Japan’s development assistance scheme “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).”
The contracts were signed between YAMAMOTO Yasushi, Ambassador of Japan to Timor-Leste, and the representatives of local NGOs, HADEZTA and Association for Future Youth Thinking, which will implement the projects. Élia A. A. dos Reis Amaral, the Minister of Health, Manuela Georgina C.B. Corte-Real, President of the Municipal Authority of Ainaro, Mateus Belo, President of the Administrative Authority of Atauro, Apolinario Serpa Rosa, General Director of Pre-School Education, Basic Education and Recurrent, the Ministry of Education and the community leaders attended the ceremony.
HADEZTA will construct a Health Post in Nuno-mogue Village, Ainaro Municipality and Association for Future Youth Thinking will construct a Primary School in Makadade Village, Atauro Administrative Authority with a funding amount of US$133,000 each from the Government of Japan.
Ambassador Yamamoto stated “the Government of Japan advocates the concept of Human Security. It is a concept where all individuals, in particular vulnerable people, have an equal opportunity to enjoy all their rights and fully develop their human potential. HADEZTA and Association for Future Youth Thinking, will implement the project to improve access to healthcare and educational environment for the people in the respective villages.”
The Government of Japan has been actively implementing a wide range of projects in Timor-Leste, from large-scale infrastructure development and industrial support to smaller-scale projects that directly benefit local communities.
