DILI, 12 february 2026 (TATOLI) – In a continuing tradition of regional diplomacy, Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Marcos dos Reis da Costa, hosted an ASEAN Ambassadors’ Luncheon at Raffles Hotel Le Royale, bringing together heads of mission from Southeast Asian nations for dialogue and engagement.
The gathering underscored Timor-Leste’s growing role in the regional bloc following its accession to ASEAN as a full member in October 2025.
The luncheon was attended by senior Cambodian dignitaries, including Guest of Honour CHHEM Keith Rethy, Senior Minister at the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of Cambodia.
The event served as an informal diplomatic platform enabling ASEAN heads of mission to strengthen relationships and build rapport.
Ambassadors exchanged views on contemporary regional issues, including the evolving nexus between artificial intelligence and ASEAN, particularly its development, governance and adoption across Southeast Asia.
The luncheon also provided an opportunity to bid farewell to the ambassadors of the Lao PDR, Indonesia and Singapore as their diplomatic missions in Cambodia draw to a close.
Such engagements remain essential to maintaining the “ASEAN Way” of consultation and consensus-building while reinforcing regional solidarity, reflecting the shared spirit that “together we rise.”
