DILI, 17 March 2026 (TATOLI) — Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by Vice-Minister Jesuína Maria Ferreira Gomes, received Shaima Salem Alhebsis, Deputy Head of Mission of the United Arab Emirates, along with Sultan Alkaabi, First Secretary and Head of Media Affairs and Public Diplomacy, for a courtesy meeting in Dili.
The discussions were conducted in a warm and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the growing friendship between Timor-Leste and the UAE.
The meeting underscores the strong and growing ties between our countries and provides an opportunity to translate mutual understanding into concrete cooperation.
Both sides exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and their broader political, diplomatic, and economic implications.
They also explored opportunities to advance bilateral cooperation in key priority areas, including economic investment, education and diplomatic training, women’s empowerment and support for girls’ programs, visa facilitation for diplomatic passport holders, maritime security, and health.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of shared commitments to strengthen cooperation, achieve tangible results, and contribute to sustainable development, mutual prosperity, and the promotion of peace and stability at both regional and global levels.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to turning these discussions into tangible outcomes that advance the interests of both nations and promote stability and prosperity at regional and global levels.
