DILI, 27 April 2026 (TATOLI) — TIMOR GAP, E.P. participated in the 10th ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE) Mid-Year Meeting held in Da Nang from 21 to 23 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in Timor-Leste’s regional energy engagement.
Throughout the event, TIMOR GAP actively engaged in key Task Force Meetings, including Exploration & Production, Gas Advocacy, Clean Energy, and Policy, Research & Capability Building, demonstrating its strong commitment to regional collaboration and sustainable energy development.
On the sidelines, a bilateral meeting was held between TIMOR GAP, E.P. and PT Pertamina, where both parties exchanged views on the current global oil situation, capacity building initiatives, and potential cross-border cooperation.
The highlight of the event was the official announcement of the accession of TIMOR GAP, E.P., representing Timor-Leste, as the 11th member of ASCOPE on 23 April 2026.
During the ceremony, Aurelia da Silva Alves, representing TIMOR GAP, E.P., delivered a meaningful speech emphasizing that this milestone is not only an institutional achievement, but also a reflection of Timor-Leste’s strong commitment to regional cooperation and shared prosperity within ASEAN.
She expressed her sincere appreciation to PetroVietnam for their warm hospitality and to all ASCOPE member countries for their trust and support. She further highlighted that TIMOR GAP’s accession represents a concrete step toward strengthening energy cooperation, an essential pillar for sustainable development in the region.
Aurelia also reaffirmed TIMOR GAP’s commitment to actively contribute to ASCOPE’s initiatives, while embracing the opportunity to learn from the experience and best practices of fellow member countries. She underscored that this moment marks the beginning of a shared journey toward building a more secure, resilient, and sustainable energy future for the region.
