DILI, 29 April 2026 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste is participating in the 9th Digital China Summit, held on 29–30 April in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, as part of its efforts to advance digital transformation and strengthen international cooperation in the technology sector.
The country is represented by António Ramos da Silva, Timor-Leste’s delegate to the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, also known as the Macau Forum.
The annual summit brings together government officials, technology experts and industry representatives to showcase digital advancements, promote innovation and deepen international collaboration.
This year’s edition is being held under the theme: “accelerating innovation and development in digital technologies and deepening the building of Digital China.”
The programme features more than 50 dialogue and exchange events focused on emerging technologies, digital innovation and the presentation of technical achievements, including initiatives developed by academic institutions and technology companies.
On the first day of the summit, the Timorese representative is scheduled to attend a parallel forum on the digital economy and visit the exhibition pavilion.
On April 30, the delegation is expected to visit several technology companies to learn about digital transformation solutions and applications.
Timor-Leste’s participation aligns with national priorities to strengthen the country’s digital sector, particularly through the implementation of the Timor Digital 2032 strategic plan and preparations for the Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2036.
Public consultations on the digital transformation strategy were held on 16 and 17 April and organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
