DÍLI, 28 August 2026 (TATOLI) – Concluding a successful ecological mission at the Tambling Wildlife Reserve, the President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, led his distinguished delegation of global Nobel and Turing Award laureates to Jakarta for a high-level strategic dialogue on Friday, August 28, 2026.

As part of the Presidency’s ongoing initiative to integrate high-level science with regional diplomacy, the Head of State convened this crucial meeting at the Megawati Institute, a prominent Menteng-based think tank founded by Indonesia’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, which is dedicated to advancing the foundational ideology of Pancasila into practical public policy.

Welcomed by the fifth President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri herself, President Ramos-Horta utilized this historic gathering to build a vital bridge between visionary political leadership and elite scientific expertise.

The President guided dynamic discussions aimed at navigating humanity’s most pressing global crises, fostering collaborative approaches to combat climate change, ensure food security, improve public health, and ethically manage the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.

The President’s initiative to bring world-class minds to the region was highly commended by Megawati Institute Executive Director Hilmar Farid, who praised the forum for successfully channeling the brilliance of top scientists toward actionable, real-world solutions.

Echoing President Ramos-Horta’s longstanding advocacy for global solidarity, the dialogue reinforced that for developing nations in the region, building domestic scientific and technological capacity must go hand in hand with robust international collaboration to deliver tangible benefits to all of humanity.
