DÍLI, 05 September 2026 (TATOLI) – President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta continued his engagement at the Horasis Visionary Circle 2026 in Singapore on 5 September, the midpoint of the three-day gathering co-hosted by Vickers Venture Partners under the theme “Leading Through Uncertainty.”

Following his special conversation the previous day with Baron Woolley of Woodford, Member of the UK House of Lords, the Nobel Peace Laureate remained among a select group of global entrepreneurs and business leaders exchanging views on leadership, credibility, and long-term vision in an increasingly unpredictable world.

The day’s discussions fell within an agenda spanning the global economic outlook amid radical uncertainty, Singapore’s evolving global role, wealth and responsibility, governance of AI and leadership beyond human scale, and Timor-Leste’s diversification agenda, themes directly bearing on President Ramos-Horta’s central message to the Circle: that Timor-Leste is positioning itself as an emerging gateway between Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

The head of state has pointed to investment opportunities in energy, tourism, and sustainable development as the country moves beyond dependence on oil and gas revenues.

“Timor-Leste stands at a unique crossroads not merely as a young nation consolidating its democracy, but as a potential bridge between the dynamism of Southeast Asia and the vast potential of the Pacific,” President Ramos-Horta said of his participation in the Circle, underscoring Timor-Leste’s commitment to sustainable development, regional connectivity, and global cooperation as the gathering moved toward its concluding sessions on 6 September.
