Minister Bendito holds bilateral meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister

DÍLI, 22 September 2026 (TATOLI) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, held a bilateral meeting with Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week.

The two Ministers discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Ukraine, and regional and multilateral cooperation. Minister Bendito reaffirmed Timor-Leste’s principled commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes, drawing on Timor-Leste’s own historical experience.

Both sides also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in food security, agriculture, education, technology and capacity-building, as well as engagement within ASEAN and the CPLP.

The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral dialogue and advancing practical cooperation for mutual benefit, peace and international solidarity.
