Timor-Leste and Kazakhstan establish diplomatic relations

DÍLI, 28 September 24 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, on September 24, held a bilateral meeting with Mukhtar Tileuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Following the meeting, the two ministers signed a Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, marking a new chapter in relations between Timor-Leste and Kazakhstan.

The ministers discussed strengthening political dialogue and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, agriculture, tourism and culture.

They also explored cooperation through ASEAN and within the United Nations and other multilateral frameworks, including on sustainable development and climate change.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular diplomatic engagement and developing mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
