Minister Bendito and UAE Minister of State Noura Al Kaabi further advance bilateral cooperation

DÍLI, 1 October 2026 (TATOLI) – Following an intensive week of high-level diplomatic engagements at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, continued his official mission to the United Arab Emirates, where he met with UAE Minister of State, Noura Al Kaabi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi. Minister Bendito was accompanied by Rui Hanjam, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to the UAE.

The meeting formed part of Minister Bendito’s reciprocal visit following Minister Al Kaabi’s historic official visit to Timor-Leste from 31 August to 1 September 2026.

The Ministers reaffirmed the growing partnership between Timor-Leste and the UAE and discussed concrete cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure, health, human capital development, diplomatic training and labour mobility, as well as advancing agreements on double taxation and investment protection and UAE support for Timor-Leste’s preparations for the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2029.

Both Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high-level engagement and translating strong bilateral ties into tangible outcomes for both countries.
