DILI, 05 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Council of Ministers, on wednesday, has approved a proposal presented by the Minister of Defense (MoD), Filomeno Paixão, on the recruitment of 600 new soldiers of the Timorese National Defense Force (F-FDTL).
Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães revealed that of the 600 new soldiers – 240 would be assigned to the Maritime Police Unit (UPM), 240 to the Land Force, and 120 others to the remaining units.
Previously, Chief of the General Staff of F-FDTL, General Falur Rate Laek, said that young people would be targeted in this recruitment.
F-FDTL and the Ministry of Defense also recruited 600 new members last year.

The Government of Timor-Leste has allocated US$ 10.9 of the General State Budget (OGE) to the Ministry of Defense.
