98 Children are suffering mal nutrition in Bairru Pite Clinic

DILI, 24 jullu 2020 (TATOLI)- Bairru-Pité Clinic recorded since January to Jun total of 98 children are suffering mal nutrition.

The Manager of Bairru Pite Clinic, Inácio dos Santos, said the patients are not hospitalize but the health professional are providing the regular treatment for the patients every week.

“We are not doing the treatment but we are doing the internment which is means they are not stay in the clinic to do the treatment but they will stay at home and come to clinic for the treatment for every week or the doctor will go to their place to give them the treatment,” Inácio told Tatoli at his office Bairru Pite Clinic.

He explains this case happen mostly due to the breastfeeding mothers sometimes, face the early pregnancy when their baby is still under 0 age, which leads them to stop breastfeeding their baby.

According to Mr. Santos the mother supposed to breastfeeding their beby within two years to prevent the baby from mal nutrition.

Dili Health Service has been supplying the drugs such as planpinat F70, F100 to distribute to the patients with mal nutrition who are unrecovered from weight loos.

Dead Recorded

On Jun 25 the TL Health Authority have confirmed six children died from malnutrition in this year.

In spite according to the demographic data from the Health surveillance in 2016, almost 24% of children are suffering the mal nutrition.

The Hospital’s head of Pediatrics, Breviado dos Santos said from January until now, the department recorded 133 children are under malnutrition’s and six fatalities.

“The children passed away under malnutrition often show themselves in weight loss, lack of food and also complications from various disease,” Mr. Santos said.

At the same time, he said the hospital provide them good treatment such as foods, milks and planpitan F70 and F100 medicines.

 World Recorded of Mal Nutrition

According to the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Many people around the world suffer from malnutrition, and 3.1 million children a year die from undernutrition, around 45% of deaths among children under 5 years of age are linked to undernutrition.

While according to UNICEF large number of those suffer malnutrition are children. Undernutrition is the cause of death in 3.1 million children per year. Though significant steps are being made each year, malnutrition affects every country in the world.
