China offers Scholarships to 60 Students from UNTL

DILI, 02 december 2020 (TATOLI)— The Government of China over its Ambassador in Timor-Leste, has offered 60 scholarships to the students from National University Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL).

Ambassador of China to Timor-Leste, Xiao Jianguo, said that the scholarship program is offered to the students with the category of academic merit and ability less from UNTL.

“This year is different with last year, because this year we have selected 60 students compare to last year we had only 50 students selected for the scholarships,” Xiao Jianguo, China Ambassador said at Engineering University at Hera.

The UNTL Rector, Francisco Miguel Martins, said China has supported the scholarship program for UNTL students every year. Each will receive $450 for this year, compare to last year 2019 each student received $400.

In addition, he requests to all the participants who get the scholarship to study hard maintain self-discipline during their study.

“I do not want you to bring a shame for UNTL because of you have low grades. This good opportunity is a blessing, hence you must effort to become intelligent students,” Mr Martins said

The 30 students of the university institution categorized to merit students and another 30 students are students with ability less will benefit from the scholarships.

In this occasion, Mr Martins represent government Thanked the Government of China through its Ambassador Xiao Jianguo.

“We thanked the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Mr Xiao Jianquo in upholding their longstanding commitment to continue support us within two years, they value our students  in the academy context to bring up the academy ability in the future,” he said.
