DILI, 19 feburary, 2021 (TATOLI) – Australian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Roberts, said that Australia will work in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH) according to the outline plan by the MoH.
Peter Roberts said that the cooperates with the MoH has been in the multiple areas, highlighted on the training for the doctors and the measures in response to the new coronavirus.
“I addressed today the type of cooperation established between development partners and the Government of Timor-Leste. I believe in Timorese leaders. the Donors must work together with the Government of Timor-Leste,” said the ambassador at the meeting with development partners, in Aitarak-Laran, Dili.
The Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste presents a compilation of donor assistance to the Covid-19 National Vaccination Plan to have the broader perspective on efforts to effectively administer the vaccine.
To reaffirm his support, the Robert added that Australia intends to respond to the plans and wishes of the MoH, pointed that the Australian Government makes a new commitment to support Timor-Leste, financing the 80% related to the acquisition of the vaccine against the new coronavirus for an amount of AU$ 24 million, equivalent to US $ 18.6 million.
“Australia annually supports Timor-Leste with around US $ 100 million [Australian]. In the previous year, there was an increase in response to the new coronavirus. I hope this year will increase the support to under covid-19 restriction, especially in the education sector, in the National Juice Development Program and in the diversification of the economy ”, he said.
According to the State Budget OGE book of 2021, the Australian Government financial support to Timor-Leste within this year, is 54.2 million dollars.
