DILI,24 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Superior Council for Defense and Security (CSDS) and the State Council (EC) have recommended to the President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, for the renewal of the state of emergency (EE) in Timor-Leste, for another 30 days, to fight against the current epidemiological situation experienced by the country.
“At the meeting of the CSDS and the EC with the President of the Republic, the two councils proposed to the Head of State to send a letter to the National Parliament to discuss this issue in order to approve the 11th period of the state of emergency, “Vasconcelos said, at the Presidential Palace.
Vasconcelos also recalled that, after the discussion of the EE in the National Parliament, the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo will declare a new state of emergency.
“The measures for the state of emergency are similar to the previous measure, except that there is a strengthening of the forces of the F-FDTL in border control”, he said.
In regards to the suspension of learning activities in the entire teritories, Vasconcelos, said that after the approval of the state of emergency, the Executive will prepare a decree that will be adopted the measures throughout the territory but particularly, in the municipalities of Bobonaro and Covalima, including the Oé-Cusse-Ambeno Special Administrative Region (RAEOA).
He also added that, the letter of proposal will be sent to the Parliament for the discussion.
