CIGC records one more active case of coronavirus in Fatumean, Covalima Municipality

DILI, 25 february 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste records one active case of Covid-19 from Fatumean, Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC) todays’ announcement. 

The Coordinator of the Task Force for the Prevention and Mitigation of the CIGC Outbreak of COVID-19, Rui Maria de Araújo, revealed that the epidemiological surveillance team has collected 40 samples of residents in Fatumean, Belulik Leten, Coalima Municipality, thorugh the screening test.

“The positive case was identified at the time the team was conductiong the tests to the residents. The patient is 69 years-old man and his wife was confirmed positive two days before him. The newly infected person is asymptomatic and spent most of his time in the vegetable garden and also as buffalo farmer, his farmer located near the Indonesian border,” Rui Araújo said during the press conference at the CIGC Room, at the Dili Convention Center.

He explained that the result indicated that the patient was infected a week or two weeks ago. “The data shows, until today, TL register first case of local tranmission in the Klauhalek group, with six infected, including four women and two men,” he said.

According to Mr Araújo, the 20 elements assigned to the epidemiological surveillance team together with the National and Covalima Laboratory as well as the Fatumean Health Center continue to carry out the contact tests.

This new infection brings the number of active infections detected in mass tests to seven.

The country currently has 21 active cases of covid-19 and 110 infections since the beginning of the new coronavirus.
