President Lú Olo express grief over the flash flood in Timor-Leste

DILI, 4 april 2021 (TATOLI) – The President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Francisco Guterres Lú- Olo, expressed s grief over the unfortunate disaster across the country.

“We face huge disaster yesterday due to the heavy rains that hit our country yesterday, cause the major floods in the Capital,” President Lú Olo said in a statement.

Lú Olo said this natural disaster is another major calamity, in addition to the spread of the covid-19 in the country.

“This catastrophe is similar to COVID-19 in Timor-Leste and it caused lots of suffering to the entire population in Timor-Leste,” Lú Olo said.

“I want to express my condolences to the families who lost their loves one during the catastrophe,” said.

Lú-Olo believes that the Government will support the victims of this natural disaster, and should start with an accurate survey of the damage and the number of deaths throughout the territory.

The President of the Republic asked all Timorese leaders to reflect on what happened in order to avoid similar catastrophes in the future.
