DILI, 15 April 2021 (TATOLI)– Timor-Leste Charismatic Leader, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão appreciating the Integrated Center for Management Crisis of COVID-19, since they agreed to return the body of 47-year-old men, Armindo Borges who was suspected to have died from covid-19.
The Former President of Timor-Leste and the Charismatic Leader Kayrala Xanana Gusmão since April 12 made a civic action toward the Ministry of Health regarding Armindo Borges dead.
“We express our appreciation to the COVID-19 Integrated Center Management Crisis (CIGC), we have been waiting here for four days and today you are here,” Gusmao expressed by tears to the team of CIGC, that led by the General Brigadier, Jaão Miranda” Aluk” at the Vera Cruz Isolation today.
Gusmao making a clear statement to the CIGC that he has been traveled everywhere across the country to inform the people about the COVID-19 protocol.
“This civic action is not concerning either lost or win, this action is not intending to go against the Government but this is a civic action,” he said.
After the negotiation was made by both Xanana and the CIGC, Xanana told the deceased family that, the man’s body will bring to his home for few minutes before going to the cemetery.
Nearly before Armindo’s body was handed over to his family, The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste and also the Head of the COVID-19 Integrated Management Center (CIGC), Taur Matan Ruak, gave the initial instructions to the Coordinators of the CIGC to make a negotiation with Gusmão and the deceased family.
Consistently, the prime minister conveyed an issue that needed to be vigilant, namely the health protocol. There is much speculation that the ban imposed by the protocol is a government decision but this is a health protocol being discussed by health doctors.
“To find a solution, I have to leave it to the Ministry of Health. I recommend to Doctor Rui Araujo and Doctor Sergio who have been part of CIGC to give the counseling. I asked them to tell one word to Xanana. Because there is only one concern from the government. If we can do anything, to avoid out people from death, we have to do it. Because covid is a world problem, “Matan Ruak said.
Taur Matan Ruak hopes that this issue can be resolved, and as the head of the CIGC, Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak apologizes to all the families of the deceased, especially the family of the first Covid-19 deceased who was buried in the Metinaru Cemetery. A cemetery provided by the government for covid-19 patients.
However, from the first day of Gusmão’s intervention in this issue, he has repeatedly said he wants to help the government.
“We have no intention against the government I have been visiting many places with the purpose to help the government, and I have been also concerned about the virus but I want to straighten the thing out in the Ministry of Health Procedures, regarding the treatment for the covid-19 patients in Timor-Leste,” Xanana said.
The same thing was expressed by Xanana to the delegation from the UN who delivered a letter to him yesterday. He said for the public to believe, there must something right so that everyone can participate in the fight against covid-19.
“That doesn’t imply that I have no concern about covid-19 disease. I have no intention to stop this government, I also want to help the government but it must be in the right way,” he said.
So far, the issue is settled between the Government’s CIGC and the deceased family.
Armindo’s Funeral was treated following the Tradition of Timorese people at the same time following the protocol from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Armando Borges funeral took place at 4:45 pm in Manleu Cemetery, Dili.
