Timor-Leste thanked the Australian Government over the support of 20.000 doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine

DILI, 05 may 2021 (TATOLI)— Government’s Minister of Health, Odete Freitas Belo appreciates the support of the Australian Government for the first shipment of 20.000 AstraZeneca Vaccine to Timor-Leste to ensure safe and effective vaccinations for the population.

“On Behalf of Timor-Leste Government, -Leste I extend my grateful appreciation to the Government of Australia for the support and also other donors that have been showing the supports though working together during the critical time,” Minister, Belo said at the Nicolau Lobato International Airport Yesterday.

Australia’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Robert, also appreciates the Government Ministry of Health for implementing the vaccination for the country’s front lines, and thus Australia continues to show its solidarity together with Timor-Leste in the battle against covid-19, by Providing 30,000 AstraZeneca vaccines produced in Melbourne with 20.000 doses arrived in Timor-Leste today, shipped via Qantas plane was supported through Australia’s Pacific Flights Program.

” Today 20.000 doses of Vaccines arrived, and the remaining 10 doses will be shipped next two weeks,” Peter Robert said.

Peter Roberts considers this shipment as part of Australia’s commitment to ensure safe and effective vaccinations for 80% of the population not covered by COVAX.

He explained, 20,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were produced in Melbourne, and people in Australia also receive this vaccine.

“I am waiting to receive the vaccine at a time, the Ministry of Health launch the vaccine next week. We will continue to support UNICEF to cover all the population in Timor-Leste,” he said.

Likewise, Mr. Robert also feels delighted to offer few more materials to the National Health Laboratory, to strengthen the working vigilant.
