DILI, 06 may 2021 (TATOLI)— The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Taur Matan Ruak, on Wednesday received a warm phone call from the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, to notify its position as a neighboring country concerning the real situation in Timor Leste.
“Austrália reaffirm its solidarity support to Timor-Leste in the fight against covid-19 pandemic and the natural disaster that had happened on April 4, 2021” according to the statement released on Thursday.
During the phone call, both nation’s leaders depend on their discussion about the cooperation relationships between the two countries, thus the Government of Australia continues to support Timor-Leste in every area that is needed.
“I want to thank Prime Minister Scott Morrison for the phone called, and we have talked on April 27 last year and today we completed one year. Thus, it is very delighted to hear your voice and with the moment I wish to manifest my deep solidarity and condolences for the victim of covid-19 in Australia,” Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak said.
On behalf of the Government and the People of Timor-Leste, Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, extend his deepest appreciation for the support of solidarity from the Government and People of Australia.
Insofar, the head of the Timor-Leste Government wrote an official letter to his Australian homolog, Scott Morrison to asks for the support of the vaccine that has been received by Timor-Leste.
The letter had positively answered from Australia, adding that the Australian Government willing to support Timor-Leste’s vaccination program. And the first 20.000 doses of AstraZeneca have arrived in Dili.
Timor-Leste has defined the target, leastwise at the end of this year will complete the vaccinations for 80% of the population across territories.
