COVID-19 Update: ICGC registers 79 news infections, 256 recoveries, and active cases at 1,938

DILI, 07 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Health Authority today reported 79 new cases of COVID-19, and 256 recoveries.

Among these 79 new cases, 61 were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including 5 Bobonaro, 2 in Covalima, 1 in Manatuto, and 10 in Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of ICGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 79 cases, 10.1 percent were symptomatic.

Araujo added 19 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and three patients were in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 1061 PCR tests, including 9 sentinel surveillance tests, 46 through contact tracing, 205 via random screening, 790 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 11 for the international travel authorization, and zero in quarantines.

Regarding the evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 6.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili of 22.2, Baucau 6.0, and Viquque 3.4.

Dili was the only place with the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

As of June 9, 2021, the death rate from COVID-19 in Timor-Leste was 2 per 1,000 people.

Over the past two weeks, the national and municipal Covid-19 incidence rate dropped below 50 percent.

The health authorities kept calling on the communities in capital Dili and municipalities to strictly obey and practice the health and safety guidance that had been implemented since the country imposed a lockdown in Dili and other municipalities.

There have been 7941 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Timor-Leste, while 18 people have now died, and 5985 recoveries.
