COVID-19 update: Timor-Leste records 54 new cases, 41 recoveries and active cases at 914

DILI, 14 july 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, reports 54 new cases of COVID-19, with 41 recoveries, and the active cases were 914.

Of the new cases, 38 cases were detected in capital Dili, while the rest were identified in the municipalities, including seven in Ermera, five in Baucau, three in Viqueque, and one in Bobonaro municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 54 new cases, 9.25 percent were symptomatic.

He said of today’s cases, 53 cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a child under 12. These new cases were made up of 28 men and 26 women.

Araujo informed that 14 patients were under intensive treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center, where three patients were in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 760 PCR tests, including 44 through contact tracing, 41 via random screening, 559 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, one for the international travel authorization, and 115 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 10.1, and Baucau 7.0.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO, saying it is important for everyone to keep combating the spread of the virus in the country by obeying public health and social measures. The country has been recording a relatively lower number of COVID-19 infections currently, in the capital Dili and some municipalities.

There has been a total of 9.960 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 9.021 recoveries, active cases were 914 and 25 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 237.946 (31.5%) had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  Of the number, around 42.942 (5.69%) have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
