MoEYS suspends face-to-face learning classes

DILI, 18 august 2021 (TATOLI)– Minister of Education Youth and Sports (MoEYS), Armindo Maia has announced the temporary suspension of the face-to-face learning classes due to the surge of Covid -19 in Dili.

This decision was taken based on the recommendation from the Center for Integrated Management of Crise (CIGC).

It recalled that under the decree-law of presidential No 56/2021 for the prevention and transmission of the SARS – COV2 in Timor-Leste, the Minister of Education had decided that all the face-to-face teaching and learning classes are temporarily suspended in effect from 17 august to 31 of August 2021. 

The Minister of Education Youth and Sport, Armindo Maia said, following the decision, students are expected to stay at home and follow the online classes.

From the start of the pandemic until today, Timor-Leste register a total of 12, 929 cumulative cases, active cases at 2349, and 38 were confirmed died from covid-19.

Likewise, the country also recorded a total of 10,545 recovery cases.
