DILI, 19 august 2021 (TATOLI)– The Government of Portugal and the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) have donated 15 units of oxygen concentrators to the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The handover ceremony was held at the SAMES Office, Kampung Alor, Dili this Thursday.
Representative of the Portuguese Embassy to Timor-Leste, Christina Isabel Faustino, said these oxygen concentrator devices are provided to treat Covid-19 patients in Timor-Leste.
“The number of Covid-19 cases in Dili is continued to increase every day, this oxygen concentration will help patients that undergoing the treatment at the emergency,” said Isabel.
She appreciates the hard-working of the Health care workers in treating COVID patients during this time.
“This equipment is very crucial to help the patients in Timor-Leste from shortness of breath progresses to a more acute condition,” she said.
In the same place, the General Director from MoH Francisco Borges said that the 15 units of oxygen concentrator will be installed at the Vera Cruz Health Center and Lahane Hospital.
“These 15 units of oxygen concentrators will be installed in Vera Cruz Isolation Center and Lahane Hospital, but SAMES will also provide it to other Municipality Hospitals if these hospitals require the oxygen,” said.
Mr. Borges also extends deep appreciation to the Government of Portugal and UNICEF for the aid provided to Timor-Leste.
