DILI, 16 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded only four new COVID-19 cases, nine recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 98, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).
According to today’s figure, three new cases were detected in Dili, and one in Covalima, adding 75 percent of the four cases were symptomatic.
Araujo said 25 percent of the new case had been fully vaccinated. These four new cases include three men and one woman.
Three of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including an elderly person over 60.
There are 10 people with COVID-19 in hospital and two of those are in critical condition, with a patient on a ventilator.
In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 73 PCR tests, including one via sentinel surveillance, 21 through random screening, and 51 in quarantines.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.
Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.707 cases, 19.490 recoveries, and 119 deaths.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 67.3 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 43.1 percent have been fully vaccinated.
