DUBAI, september 16, 2021 (TATOLI)-The quality of Timor-Leste’s coffee products attracts international visitors at Expo 2020 Dubai.
According to the Director of the Timor-Leste Pavilion at Expo 2020, Dubai, Edson Robert Noronha Lopes, many visitors are attracted to local Timor-Leste products, especially coffee and vanilla products.
“The number of visitors to our pavilion has increased to 3000 since two days ago, just to test our coffee”, Edson Robert Noronha Lopes told a report at the Dubai Expo, on October 15, this Friday evening.
Edson added, since Expo 2020 Dubai opened on October 1 until today, they have welcomed more than 300 to 400 visitors every day.
According to Noronha many local products are available at Dubai Expo which consist of coffee, Vanilla, Woods sandals among others, but coffee is the most attractive local product at 55.20 USD.
A tourist from Lebanon, Riyad Awada said Timor-Leste’s products were very interesting, especially coffee and vanilla.
“We visited the Timor-Leste Pavilion in search of a good aroma of Coffee and finally, I found the best coffee in the Timor-Leste Pavilion,” said Riyad Awada.
Timor Leste’s coffee production accounts for under 0.2% of global coffee trade, but remains in a unique and highly opportunistic position given its position as the largest single source organic coffee producer globally. The National Cooperative Business Association describes the emerging coffee as “one of the best and most unique coffees in the world” (Curnow, R. 2003). This is largely the result of the fertile volcanic soil known as ‘Hybrido de Timor’, where coffee is grown. In addition, Alf Kramer, a leading coffee expert has described Timor coffee as “among the top 1% in quality and price worldwide” (Curnow, R. 2003).
