Covid-19 Update: TL records 7 new cases, 5 recoveries

DILI, 23 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded seven new cases, five recoveries, and the active cases were 69, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).

According to today’s figure, all of the eight cases were detected in Dili.

Araujo said 57.1 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic, adding 28 percent of the cases were fully are vaccinated.

Five of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including two cases under 20 years old. These new cases were made up of three men and four women.

There are five people with COVID-19 in hospital, of which one is in critical condition and needed a ventilator.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 80 PCR tests, including two via sentinel surveillance tests, six through contact tracing, 39 via random screening, one for the international travel authorization, and 32 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.766 cases, 19.577 recoveries, and 120 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 70.7 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 45.9 percent had been fully vaccinated.
