DILI, 26 November 2021 ( TATOLI)- Australia’s Workforce Development Program of Timor – Leste (WDPTL), running a 3 month Academic English language short course for 35 public servants (19 M,16 F) and 13 People With Disabilities (8M,5F) in Timor – Leste.
Representative of WDPTL, Imogen Wilson said this program was successfully realized following the cooperation between The Australian Government, the Department of Foreign Affair ( DFAT), the Commission of Public Servants in Timor – Leste and the Association of Disability of Timor – Leste ( ADTL).
“I am proud because all the participants can accomplish their Academic English Course at Loro SAE English Language Institute ( LELI) during 3 months,” Wilson told TATOLI in Xanana Reading Room, Lecidere, Dili today.
Wilson added the objective of the course was to improve the ability of the Public Servants (PS) and People with Disabilities (PWD) to apply for the International scholarship, including the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarship program, Increase their confidence in Speaking, Writing, and Reading English at their working places.
Representative of Australia Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Suzanne Wilson Uilelea thanked the WDPTL and LELI by hoping that this program can expand to all municipalities across the Timor – Leste.
“DFAT wishes this program can be continued in Timor – Leste to train the PS and PWD to develop their English ability to be able to join the Australian Awards Scholarship next year,” said Uilelea.
Public Servants were from a range of ministries and were supported by their line supervisors to participate in the courses.
The Public servant participants were from the Ministry of Public Works ( MP), Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF), Ministry of Planning Ordainment (MPO), Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Finance ( MoF), Ministry of Tourism Commerce and Industry (MTCI), Inspector General State (IGS), SAMES IP and Court of Appeal.
PWD students were from the Ahisaun Fondation, Raes Hadomi Timor Oan ( RHTO), East Timor Blind Union (ETBU), ADTL, PWD Public Servant from Ministry of Public Works, and students of a local university in Timor – Leste.
