GIZ donates one unit of Braille Machine to ADTL


DIIL, 02 december 2021 ( TATOLI) – The German government through Germany International Cooperation (GIZ) donated a unit of Braille Machine to the Association for People with Disability of Timor – Leste (ADTL) to facilitate the activities of persons with visual impairments.

GIZ Country Coordinator and German Development Cooperation Coordinator Rainer Schelhaas said the Braille Machine was given to ADTL to facilitate the blind who are studying at school: “We donated the Braille Machine to ADTL because ADTL is the umbrella organization for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in Timor Leste”

“We see that many people with disabilities in Timor-Leste do not have access to reading and writing facilities, therefore this donation will help ease their writing and reading activities to continue their education in university,” Schelhaas commented on the ADTL office, Mascarenhas, Dili today.

Schelhaas asked ADTL to use the Brille machine carefully for a long time, adding that the GIZ is committed to continuing this collaboration to strengthen good relations especially with the ADTL association in the field of education.

ADTL Director Sezario da Silva on behalf of ADTL and other organizations of persons with disabilities appreciates the support from the German Government through GIZ and promises to save its maintenance for the benefit of persons with vision Impairment in ADTL.

This Brille machine costs $15,000 and the maintenance will be responsible by GIZ for 1 year.
