CNC stores 55,000 Archive documents and 25,000 digitalized documents

DILI, 10 december 2021 ( TATOLI)-Executive Director of Centro National Chega! I.P (CNC), Hugo Maria Fernandes revealed, CNC has preserved around 55,000 historical archive documents and 25,000 digitized documents.

Fernandes said that the digitization of archive preservation has been carried out at (CNC) since the country became independent.

“CNC has 55,000 archives of historical documents and 25,000 digitalized documents that have been stored at Chega! While the documents that have not been digitalized are 35,000,” Fernandes told TATOLI at the Nova Tourismo Hotel, Lecidere, Dili.

Fernandes explained that the 55,000 documents consisted of witness documents, Indonesian military operations, correspondence documents for the heroes, as well as several international reports related to the 1975-1999 Timor-Leste war.

“These documents will be digitalized or stored into the electronic system to ensure their existence and safety and the digitalization process will be carried out by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA),” said Fernandes.

It is known that KOICA has donated $5 million to support CNC in digitizing CNC documents.
