DILI, 21 december 2021 (TATOLI)—Secretary of State for Arts and Culture (SSAC), Teófilo Caldas said Currently SSAC is preparing a new resolution outline december 14 as the National day for Tais, saying the resolution will be submitted to the Council of Minister in January 2022.

“Our Secretariat Advisor has prepared an attachment to a resolution that will be submitted to the Council of Minister in January 2022, “Caldas commented after participating in the Launching ceremony held by UNESCO at Timor-Plaza Dili.

According to Mr. Caldas, the date (december 14) was selected to coincide with the date UNESCO announced ‘Tais’ Timor-Leste as an intangible cultural heritage.

“The purpose of establishing Tais National Day is to interpret Tais as a cultural property owned by Timor-Leste, When the resolution is approved, the entire community will be required to wear Tais during Tais day december 14, to appreciate and value the country’s property,” said Caldas.

Caldas at the same time suggested that Tais should be wearing as the primary uniform for every Government staff.

“All the government staff must wear Tais as primary uniform on the first day of a week or every Monday, especially wearing Tais at every national rising flag ceremony,”

In addition, SSAC has concluded in the 2022 State General Budget a total of $60,000 to support the Tais Training group across municipalities to increase the product of Tais in Timor-Leste: “We have set up fund totaling $60,000, we will distribute to each group that submits the proposal intending to develop the training skill for Tais”
