Dili Vanilla Company provides 294,350 USD to meet Vanilla good quality for Australia Expo

DILI, 02 february 2022 (TATOLI)-  Dili Vanilla (HMN) Company is provided 294,350 USD to meet a good quality of Vanilla product to send to the Australia expo in a2022.

HMN Vanilla Company, Martin Hardie said the local farmer in Timor-Leste still lacks the knowledge to guarantee the quality of vanilla.

It is required for Timorese farmers to comply with the cultivation process. It  can be able to meet the quality of Vanilla.   The vanilla product must consist of Mature Size, 8 to 10 feet, Part shade to full shade ; Soil Type, Rich, fertile,” he said.

“We are cooperating with local farmers to ensure a quality of vanilla product responding to domestic and international market demands,” The Director of HMN, Martin Hardie told Tatoli, at Timor Plaza, this wednesday.

The Dili vanilla company has not yet decided on the quantity of vanilla for the Australia expo. As the Timorese vanilla farmers are not meeting the proper number of products.

He added that vanilla has many functions for foods and complements such as Cake, coffee, and others. Vanilla is more important for complements in restaurants and bakeries.

It is required to ensure vanilla quality as the existence of this company is helping the local farmer to guarantee the vanilla quality.

He is considering that farmers still do not guarantee the quality of vanilla production in the country.

According to the director, the biggest challenge for farmers is to demand the quality price of vanilla, but they do not guarantee the quality of production to respond to the market.

The official mentioned that the company is working with farmers in the municipalities of Aileu, Ermera and Liquiçá, among others. It is to ensure the maximum price and value chain of the product.

Mr. Martin said the company is still working with farmers to create a vanilla cooperative.

The director said that the Government is not making efforts to guide farmers for vanilla production. Thus, the cooperation guides local farmers must understand the cultivation process, and also ensure crops are ripe and ready for harvesting.

It is known that from 2018 to 2021 HMN has exported 400 kilogram of vanilla to some different countries composed of Portugal, the United State of America and others.

“HMN Company bought vanilla, ginger, saffron, among others from farmers in Aileu, Same and Ermera, for the Australia Expo market in 2022. He added.

The vanilla current price is US$15 for each kilogram. The Market distribution process is used online.

DILI Vanilla HMN Company has got certificate on 23 november 2021 from TradeInvest Timor-Leste.

The company is funded 294,350 USD for the agricultural sector. It is focused on vanilla plantation and there are 17 employees currently working at Aileu municipality.
