26 Observers from EU will arrive Timor-Leste in february to observe the Presidential Election

DILI, 03 february 2022 (TATOLI)- The President of National Election Commission (CNE), José Belo said the Election Observation Mission (EOM) will come to Timor–Leste to conduct the direct observation of the Presidential election which will be held on 19 march,2022.

“We had informed by the Eu that Headquarter of EU in Brussel will send 26 observers to observe the Presidential Election, They have ready to come to Timor–Leste in this february to observe the process of Presidential election that will take place on 19 march,’’ Belo told Tatoli at the meeting room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Praia dos Coqueiros, Dili today.

Belo explained that EOM from the EU had become the permanent partner because since Timor – Leste held an election in 2002, the headquarter of EU in Brussel always sends the observer to observe directly the process of Election in Timor – Leste.

“On behalf of the Government I thank the EU- in Timor- Leste which is always working together with the CNE and STAE to run the election in Timor – Leste with the objective to implement the transparent election based on the value of the democratization principle in Timor – Leste,’’  Belo said.

The Ambassador of the European Union in Timor – Leste, Andrew Jacobs, informs that the delegation of EOM will arrive in Timor – Leste by the end of february to observe the direct observation of the Presidential election that will take place in march 19, 2022.

“The observers from EU are still in the discussion phase and they will come to Timor – Leste by the end of February, at the moment I still do not know yet the delegation Chief of EOM because the Headquarter of EU in Brusel still conducts the preparation phase,” Jacobs said.

Jacob appreciated the Government of Timor – Leste specially the Ministry of State Administration who had invited the EU to observe the presidential election in Timor Leste to ensure the transparent election based on the principles of democratization in Timor – Leste.
