President of Council Veteran appeals to all parts to ensuring country stability

DILI, 03 march 2022 (TATOLI)-  President Council of Veteran and National Liberation, Riak Leman, appealed to all parties to ensure the country’s stability during the presidential election and reflected on the history of veteran’s sacrifice of 24 years.

“Veterans play important roles to ensure country stability. It is not required for intimidation, violence, and crime in this country. We are having a democracy party at this moment as we are celebrating the presidential election. Everyone has the right to vote for a president for the period 2022 to 2027,” President of Council Veteran, Riak Leman told TATOLI Agency via phone, on this thursday.

Council Veteran is calling on State, government, and civic society to contribute to the state-building. It refers to country stability during presidential campaigns.

“Timor-Leste is adapting to a democracy system. There are so many political parties, mostly involving veterans. However, everyone has the responsibility to ensure this country is peaceful and secure,” He said.

Mr. Leman reminds us that all support from different parties should contribute to peacebuilding. We must avoid crime and the destruction of the country.

All veteran people that are involved in each political party should have positive thinking to guarantee peace and country stability.

To ensure all young people will work together with some variations as Minister Education Youth and Sport and Minister of Highly education. The Council Veteran recommended that all Timorese students across the country composed of basic school, high and university students must learn the history of all histories on veterans fighting and sacrificing during the conflict.

Young Timorese people must be learning more comprehensively about Timorese history.

Due to the delay in the finance transferring system, the money cannot be used today to celebrate veterans’ day. However, some municipalities are celebrating the ceremony with financial contributions.

“This year, we do not have a big celebration. However, the money will be used for providing the national flags, establishing flag poles, and printing some history books,” He said.

The Minister for the affairs of National Liberation Combatants (MANLC) has provided a total budget to the veteran council for the veteran on national celebration day in the amount of 25.000 USD.
