Timor-Leste submits ratification of mobility agreement to CPLP

DILI, 17 june 2022 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste has submitted the ratification of the mobility agreement to the executive secretariat of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), Zacarias da Costa Albano.

According to a document released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document was handed over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Adaljiza Magno, in Portugal.

“This agreement is one of the priorities of the Government of Timor Leste. This allows the movement of the CPLP community between CPLP countries”, the statement said.

The document explains that the agreement creates opportunities in several areas, such as tourism, health, education, sports, and science.

The document also states that Timor-Leste and the CPLP are “united by language, culture, and history”.

Minister Adaljiza Magno previously said that Timor-Leste would cooperate with all CPLP Member States in the implementation of this agreement.

So far the agreement has been ratified by the Timor National Parliament in April while the signing of the agreement between MNEC and CPLP on 17 July 2021 in Angola.

Agreement on Mobility between States affected by the organization, which shall enter into force upon submission of the respective documents of ratification to the Executive Secretariat.
