DILI, 4 july 2022 (TATOLI)-The Civil Protection Authority (ACP), distributed emergency aid to 363 families of flood victims in three municipalities.
“Heavy rains and floods hit three municipalities, Viqueque, Covalima, and Lautem. Currently, the team is collecting temporary data consisting of 363 families and 547 people affected by the flood disaster, therefore SEPS has coordinated with relevant agencies to distribute humanitarian aid consisting of basic commodities, water, kitchen utensils, bedding, and foods, to the affected families,” Inspector Ismael Babo told TATOLI in his office, Caicoli, recent Monday.
However, Babo said, the data has not been completed by the team at this time, and the team has been working very hard to continue to collect data from flood-affected communities to distribute humanitarian aid.
In the same place, Babo said, to ensure all logistical supplies can reach the victims, ACP coordinates with the National Logistic Center (NLC) to keep all humanitarian aid in the nearest warehouse that has been set up at the municipality level.
According to Babo, ACP will identify damage by category, and provide distribution of house construction materials for the rehabilitation of community houses.
Meanwhile, Civil Protection has prepared USD 11 million to respond to the needs of communities affected by natural disasters by 2022.
By 2023 the ACP authorities will ask for 40 million USD for next year to respond to natural disaster situations that happen across the country.
