SEFOPE to build an integrated  Training Center for the fishery in Hera

DILI, 14 july 2022 (TATOLI) – The Director General of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Paulo Alves, informed that, so far SEFOPE through the National Development Institution of Mao de Obra ( INDMO), has accredited 27 training centers across the country, which offers a wide range of training fields except for the fisheries sector.

“Of the 27 training centers in Timor – Leste none have offered training in the fishery sector, therefore the Government of Timor – Leste through SEFOPE will build an integrated fishery training center in Hera in the near future,” Paulo Alves said TATOLI during an interview in his office. Cai-Coli Dili, Thursday.

Alves admitted that SEPFOPE had sent 3127 workers from Timor Leste to South Korea, saying 60% of them had worked in the fisheries sector but without experience and training in fisheries, making it difficult for them.

Based on this issue, the Government’s SEPFOPE plans to establish an integrated training center in Hera to facilitate Timorese the basic fishing skills to be prepared to work in fisheries in South Korea and also Timor-Leste in the future,” Alves explained.

According to Alves, the fishing industry is important, therefore it is important to empower fishermen because they are an important source of food, contributing to the country’s economic growth.

“Timor-Leste has a great sea than the mainland, therefore we must take advantage and explore our sea to see all the sea resources, therefore one thing to do is by preparing good conditions, one of which is to train Timor-Leste’s youth through training centers,” he concluded.
