Gov’t to align PwD’s programs with National Action Plan to be implemented in 2023

DILI, 11 august 2022 (TATOLI)- Government Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MoSSI) organized a meeting with vocal points of every ministry to align the program for people with disability to the Government National Action plan to be implemented in 2023.

Vice Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion, Signi Chandrawati Verdial, said that the purpose of this meeting is to offer the working responsibility to the vocal point of Inter-Ministerial to prepare the National Action Plan and Annual Budget that align with the priorities program in 2023.

“This meeting is also an initial meeting to share the opinions and ideas with the vocal points of every ministry to decide the priority programs that will be implemented in 2023 and focus our attention on the disabled across Timor-Leste,” Vice Minister Verdial, told reporters in Timor-Plaza, Maubara room, on thursday.

National Parliament approved the convention on the right of people with disability in july this year:” This is a great achievement by the Government of Timor – Leste,” 

Following the approval of the Convention on the right of PwD in Timor-Leste, Verdial said The Government of Timor – Leste has the right and commitment to paying attention to the rights of PwD.

According to Verdia every action plan and program implemented by the Government that focuses on the PwD will be reported to the UN every five years.

The Workshop was attended by vocal points from several government Ministry and Institutions including, the Secretary of State of Communication and Social (SECOMS), Ministry of Defense (MoD), Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS), Secretary of State of Youth and Sport (SSYS), Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Secretary State of Equality and Inclusion (SSII), State Secretary for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC), Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture (MHESC) and the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion.
