Kochi Marutaka Company is willing to provide civil construction training for Timorese

DILI, august 25, 2022 (TATOLI)— Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Japan, Ilidio Ximenes da Costa said Japan’s Kochi Marutaka Company is ready to support Timor-Leste by providing civil construction training to Timorese students.

The Company’s willingness was conveyed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Japan, Ilidio Ximenes da Costa, and the President of the Kochi Marutaka Company, Takano Hiroshige on August 19, 2022, in Tokyo, Japan.

Ambassador Ximenes said the second meeting discussed the criteria that need to be met by students to take part in training in the field of civil construction.

“The criteria include Cooperation between Governments, the participants should speak and understand Japanese, good health conditions, and students will be assessed according to their educational background,” Ambassador Ilidio explained to Tatoli via social media, Wednesday.

According to Ambassador Ximenes, the Company has been accepting students who wish to take part in civil construction and heavy equipment operation training. The discussion also focused on places to be visited by students and training materials in the field of civil construction.

“So far the company has accepted students from various countries such as Indonesia, Myanmar, China, and Thailand and is willing to accept students from Timor-Leste,”

Ambassador Ximenes emphasized the advantage of this training is that students will gain more technical knowledge and have the opportunity to work in Japan.

“The advantage of this training is that students can gain technical knowledge and have the opportunity to work in companies in Japan at the same time, it helps reduce unemployment and improve the family’s economy in Timor-Leste,” he said.

The first target for this training is 10 to 15 students, the Japanese language course itself will be facilitated by the State Secretariat for Professional Training and Employment (SEFOPE) including the recruitment process.

Ximenes emphasized that in a meeting with the Representative Director of the Agrifarm Kochi Cooperative, Yamamoto Tetsuya, and his team, they also discussed the recruitment process and plans for a visit to Timor-Leste which is scheduled to be realized in October 2022.

Regarding the cooperation agreement, Ximenes said the Timor-Leste’s Embassy in Japan had confirmed with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs but still had to wait for confirmation from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the Japanese Immigration Service Agency under the Ministry of Justice.

“We will sign a letter of agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of Timor Leste to fulfill the requirement of the criteria and pave the way for the people of Timor Leste to participate in this program,” he concluded.
