DILI, 05 october 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Council of Ministers (CoM), today, authorized the construction of a five-story building for the pediatric and Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU) of the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV).
“The Council of Ministers decided to authorize the procurement procedure of international public tender, for the awarding of the contract for the construction of the Pediatric and Coronary Intensive Care Unit of the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV),” Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said in a press conference, at the Palace of Government, today.
This project was presented by the Minister of Health, Odete Maria Freitas Belo.
The construction of the unit is to improve specialized quality care provided at the HNGV for hospitalization of emergency cases and pediatric urgency.
It will also improve the national response to sporadic and emerging outbreaks of dengue, cholera, and other outbreaks with major public health impacts, particularly among newborns, children, and adolescents.
“It’s a five-story building which will be constructed at HNGV to improve health care quality for all citizens. The construction project is expected to begin in the very near future,” Minister Magalhães concluded.
