DILI, 24 october 2022 (TATOLI)– The General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, (MoFAC), Francisco Tilman Cepeda, said Vietnam has committed to establishing its embassy in Dili Timor-Leste after Timor-Leste acceded to ASEAN.
“Currently the Vietnam non-residents Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Ta Van Thong has permanent residents in Indonesia, and Jakarta, but today Ambassador Ta Van Thong said, Vietnam will establish its Embassy in Timor-Leste, after Timor-Leste accession to ASEAN, and all the activities will be directly implemented in Timor-Leste,” Cepeda told the media after attending the new envoys presented their Credential to President Horta at Presidential Palace today.

Cepeda added that Timor-Leste’s bilateral relations with Vietnam have been very well particularly in the Information and Technology (IT) sector adding that Vietnam has established telecommunications satellites in Timor-Leste from 2012 until now.
“Vietnam has invested in the telecommunications sector (Telemor) to provide internet service to the country and employed many Timorese, Sowe hopes that Vietnam will realize its commitment to establish its permanent Embassy in Timor – Leste, to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the telecommunications sector, including other sectors in the future,” he concluded.
President Horta at the same time welcomes Vietnam’s commitment to establishing its embassy in Timor – Leste, to tie the bilateral relations of both countries in the future.
