DILI, 25 october 2022 (TATOLI) – The Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Timor-Leste, Ihma Shareef, said that IOM is willing to provide accommodation to young Timorese, who are currently living in a precarious situation in Portugal.
During her discussion with Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, Shareef presented the possibilities of helping the Timorese job seekers who are jobless in Portugal, saying both Portugal and Timor-Leste are still discussing the solutions to the problem.
Shareef informed that she is well aware of the problems experienced by the young Timorese in Portugal.
Shareef said therefore IOM continues to support both governments to reach a good solution to end the problems facing these Timorese people.
She reiterated that providing accommodation to these Timorese people would be the main priority of IOM’s support.
Shareef added that IOM is always there to collaborate with the Timorese government and Portugal on the issue.
The International Organization for Migration is a United Nations agency that provides services and advice concerning migration to governments and migrants, including internally displaced persons, refugees, and migrant workers.
