HIVOS donates $7,000 and six units of Laptop to FUNDEF

DILI, 07 november 2022 (TATOLI)– The Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation ( HIVOS) donated US$ 7,000 and six units of laptops to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Foinsa,e Unidade Dezenvolve Future (FUNDEF) in Timor – Leste.

The Director of FUNDEF, Carlos Goncalves, said HIVOS from Jakarta Indonesia donated $7,000 and six laptops to FUNDEF to support the Capacity Building and to support administrative activities at FUNDEF.

At the handed-over ceremony, Concalves thanked HIVOS on behalf of FUNDEF: these supports will be used this assistance to empower the youths through computer training, administrative and financial training,” Director Concalves, told TATOLI at the office of FUNDEF, Kampung- Baru, Dili on monday.

“The $7,000 donation will be used to pay five trainers that offer the training to the participants for six months,”

Gonçalves said the training participants will have the opportunity to be involved in the internship in government agencies and other related institutions to acquire more skills to compete for the jobs.

“FUNDEF is confident that through the preparation of the Capacity Building they will gain skills to access for the job,” he said.

Gonçalves added that since FUNDEF was established in 2011 until 2022 it has provided various kinds of training to over 7,000 youths and 1000 of them have successfully accessed jobs in government institutions, NGOs, and other related institutions during this time.

Representative of the National Development Institution of Mao de Obra (INDMO), Paulino dos Santos Albino, appreciated the training programs at FUNDEF saying, this training program would be able to provide skills for youths to compete for jobs in Timor-Leste.

“I appreciate the FUNDEF’s training center on behalf of the Government’s State Secretary for Vocational and Training (SEFOPE) for providing opportunities for youths to increase their knowledge and skills, I believe with this training they will be able to access jobs in Timor – Leste to improve their lives,” he said.

At the same place, the Program Manager of Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion of HIVOS, Ni Loh Gusti Madewanti, urges young Timorese to take part in the training that will bring the country to a bright future.

” HIVOS will continue to support the FUNDEF ‘s program to empower Timorese youths to be independent and develop their skills to contribute to the national development process.
