DILI, 14 november 2022 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, asked the Brazilian pharmaceutical companies to invest in Timor-Leste.
The Head of State made the request in a meeting with the Brazilian ambassador to Timor-Leste, Maurício Medeiros de Assis.

“President Horta has shown interest in attracting Brazilian pharma companies to invest in the country. This is an area that we should explore in Timor-Leste,” Ambassador Assis told reporters after meeting the Head of State at the Palace of the President.
Assis said that a formal dialogue between the two countries would be necessary to further discuss the matter.
“We take advantage of the personal friendship between Ramos Horta and our newly-elected President, Lula da Silva to make this happen,” he stressed.
Ambassador Assis pointed out that the meeting also discussed the cooperation between Brazil and Timor-Leste, in the areas of education, defense and technical cooperation for Professional Training.
“We want to deepen this cooperation and bring more Brazilian teachers to Timor-Leste,” he said.
Horta congratulates Lula da Silva
The Head of State also congratulated the newly-elected Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, who will take office in january 2023 to lead the country for the next four years.
“We hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries will get stronger in various areas,” Assis said.
President Horta considers Brazil a brother country that helped Timor-Leste, through South-South cooperation.
